When my partner and I visited Portland, Oregon, in 2013 we were excited by the food truck culture there. On one city block alone there were around 60 food trucks, open daily. The choice, flavours and aromas were amazing. We have nothing on that volume here in Melbourne yet, but steadily food trucks are gaining popularity.
One such truck is Mr Burger. They started in 2012 and have now expanded beyond trucks to having bricks and mortar locations. But if you want to find a truck, go to their website, hit the Find a Burger link and their locations over the following week will be listed.
And that’s what I did – which lead me to Federation Square and to the Mr Veg Burger. It has falafel, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard and tomato sauce. The falafel is perfectly cooked, it’s crunchy on the outside and not dry or bready on the inside. It’s tasty too. The salad ingredients are crisp and fresh and the sauces not overdone. The chips are sprinkled with cajun spices and taste great. All in all a delicious combination.
Hmmm… I wonder if Mr Burger could come and park in my street?
